It has finally come to an end. The five year span I spent at LOJO is now over, and I am moving on. I don’t know what will be next quite yet, but I’m sure it will be exciting.
In the time I was with LOJO, I’d worked with hundreds of clients on probably over 3 times as many projects, and have built up a bulky graphic design portfolio of web design, logos, and print work. I haven’t posted all of the projects I’ve done on my portfolio site jayckelly.com, just some of my favorites, and some that are a good example of the design process.
In anticipation of my separation with LOJO, I put together some business cards for myself to enhance my brand. I’d be happy to send you one or several by request. I had them created with a special spot UV process on suede paper and they came out much better than I was expecting, thanks to the folks over at 4over printing. The design is actually pretty simple; I just used my logo to fill most of the space, and incorporated a cool pattern as kind of a visual stimulate. I had to find a font that fit my personality, and I eventually settled on a Google font called Jura, which is double cool if you consider that it coincidentally shares a name with one of my favorite planeswalkers (I’m such a nerd).
So if you’re wondering if I’m going to be designing freelance, the answer is always, but always under the right circumstance. And since my availability has opened up dramatically, for the moment, I will be entertaining most opportunities.
If you’re interested in the circumstances surrounding my separation from LOJO, I’d be happy to discuss it under the pretense that I wish no ill will toward anyone, and above all else I wish to simply move on. Again, it is an era of my life that has now ended, and I am putting it behind me.
All of this could very well turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to me, and that is how I will continue to look at it until I know for sure what is going to happen next. Recently I’ve made some pretty amazing discoveries that I probably wouldn’t have considered looking into if it were not for my current circumstance.
If you are a friend of mine, thank you in advance for all your support. If you are a stranger, perhaps you can find hope in the struggles you’re faced with as well. And if you are passionate about design as I am, well maybe we should connect. I will make sure to post updates on my status as they occur, and hopefully I won’t have time to provide too many updates. But be sure to reach out, give me some feedback if you’d like, and check back occasionally. Until then.
